How to avoid the Royal Mail parcel rate increase

How to avoid the Royal Mail parcel rate increase

Royal Mail have announced an increase in their postal rates for business parcels from next month. As of 7th October 2019 a flat rate increase of 5p across all parcel weight bands for the services Royal Mail 24 and Royal Mail 48 will come into effect.

This price increase will apply to non-barcoded products, so if you currently use Royal Mail or approved Third Party Shipping to produce your barcoded labels, the increase won’t affect you.

Which postage rates are increasing?

Royal Mail 24® Parcel format (SU1 and SU2) – 5p increase per parcel across all parcel weight bands

Royal Mail 48® Parcel format (SU1 and SU2) – 5p increase per parcel across all parcel weight bands

Which items qualify as Royal Mail Parcel format?

Any items of mail over the size/weight restriction for Large Letter will be classed as a parcel. The Large Letter restrictions are up to 353mm x 250mm with a maximum thickness of 25mm and max weight of 750g. Any package over these dimensions will be charged at a parcel rate.
